Volunteer Opportunities
The Edmond Medical Center Auxiliary was organized in 1967 and was established with the purpose of cultivating friendly relations and promoting understanding between patients, visitors and the hospital staff.
Volunteer opportunities are available to persons 18 and older. The auxiliary floor personnel transport patients to and from patient rooms and to their cars when they are dismissed; deliver mail and flowers to patients; staff the EMC information desk, deliver requisitions and small supplies to various departments in the hospital. Volunteers also work in the hospital's Gift Shop, Medical Records Department, Radiology, Laboratory, Oupatient Surgery and Materials Management.
Volunteers are required to receive two TB skin tests (provided by the hospital at no charge), purchase a pink smock for women or a pink or white shirt for men (to be worn with white pants and white rubber soled shoes), pay annual dues ($5) and attend a volunteer and a hospital orientation. There are four general meetings each year to which all volunteers are invited to attend. If you would like to apply to become a hospital volunteer call 341-6100 ext. 6368 to request an application.
